Andy Murray wins the 2012 U.S Open by defeating defending champion Novak Djokovic

In the final match of the US Open Tennis Championships last night, Britain’s Andy Murray claimed victory over Serbia’s Novak Djokovic to take home the coveted trophy. His title win ends the UK’s 76-yearlong drought waiting for a male Grand Slam singles victor. Murray also made it to the final round at Wimbledon earlier this year, and took home a gold medal at the London Olympics this summer. His win comes just after Serena Williams claimed the same title for the ladies. Congrats to both of them!

Bill Clinton’s 2012 Democratic National Convention Speech: Hillary Watches In Support!

Well, this is just too cute! Last night, former president Bill Clinton gave his speech at the Democratic National Convention, and doting wife (and our Secretary of State, of course!) Hillary Clinton caught up a little later in the night by watching a replay from halfway around the world in Southeast Asia. This adorable sign of support and affection got us thinking about famous couples who support each other in their endeavors. Brooklyn Decker has been a staple this week at the US Open Tennis Championships while husband Andy Roddick played his heart out in his final games before retirement. And we’re still thinking about how Jay-Z watched in awe on the sidelines as Beyoncé rubbed her baby bump on stage at last year’s MTV VMAs. We just love all these couples!

Andy Roddick to Retire After U.S. Open

Andy Roddick is ready to put down his racket – for good. On Thursday, the athlete announced his plans to retire from professional tennis after the current U.S. Open in New York. "I have decided that this is going to be my last tournament," Roddick, who is married to model-turned-actress Brooklyn Decker, told reporters during a press conference USA Today reports. "I don't know if I'm healthy enough or committed enough to continue another year." Roddick, who turned 30 on Thursday, will play 19-year-old Australian Bernard Tomic at the U.S. Open at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, which could be his last match ever, depending on how he does. "I wanted an opportunity to say goodbye," he said Thursday. "I hope I'm sticking around." Perhaps the highlight of Roddick's career was winning the U.S. Open in 2003. He ended the season that year ranked at No. 1, the youngest American ever (age 21 years and 3 months) to be ranked at No. 1. He played in the finals of Wimbeldon three times, but lost each time to Roger Federer. Roddick married Decker in 2009 during an intimate candlelit ceremony at his Austin, Texas, home in 2009.
