Jennifer Love Hewitt's Mother Dies

Jennifer Love Hewitt's biggest supporter has died. The actress's mom Patricia, 67, lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday, Hewitt's rep announced in a statement. "Her family mourns her loss," the rep says. "She was an angel to all who knew her and they are grateful she is now in a better place. They ask for privacy at this difficult time. No further details are being provided." Hewitt, 33, who kept her mom's illness private, appreciated her acceptance of the career decisions she made. For example, the actress's mother was able to find her role as a prostitute on The Client List "hilarious," Hewitt joked two years ago. "She was like, 'So let's review ... For 15 years people have been talking about your boobs. Earlier this year, you wrote about your hoo haw in a book. Now you're playing a crack ho on TV.' She was like, 'Do you think maybe you could do an animated movie next?' "

• She may be busy making a new movie – but Anna Paquin is also making time for another passion: sweets. The True Blood actress is in Shreveport, La., to film Straight A's (with Ryan Phillippe) when she had a chance encounter with a fellow shopper at the Albertson's grocery store. The actress was in the bakery and told the shopper she was trying to learn how to make red velvet cake. "She was really accessible and friendly," a source says.
• Jennifer Love Hewitt celebrated the wrap of her newest movie, Jewtopia, with her cast and crew during a bash at Lexington Social House in L.A. The actress arrived first and helped get the party started. Guests also munched on assorted flatbreads and other snacks, including duck rillettes, and drank Stoli cocktails during the party.
• Avril Lavigne and beau Brody Jenner took in Zumanity, Cirque du Soleil's sensual cabaret show at the New York-New York Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, along with seven close friends. The couple enjoyed popcorn and signature drinks while laughing throughout the show. And before it even started, Lavigne posed for photos with the cast in the theater lobby.

• Justin Bieber lunched with his bodyguard at Sushi Dan on Sunset Boulevard in L.A. The duo ordered a ton of food and at the end of their meal, the singer picked up the tab with his credit card.

Jennifer Love Hewitt
THEN: Hewitt rose to fame in 1997 after starring in the horror flick I Know What You Did Last Summer. "It's weird when suddenly you wake up one morning and people care what you're eating for lunch and what kind of shirt you're wearing," Hewitt told Teen People in 1998. The actress later joined the cast of Party of Five during the show's second season.
NOW: Hewitt starred as Melinda Gordon in the TV series Ghost Whisperer until the show ended in 2010. She'll be returning to the big screen, but this time, in a director's chair! The actress announced in January that she will make her feature film directorial debut in Wait Till Helen Comes, a thriller based on the novel by Mary Downing Hahn.

Sarah Michelle Gellar
THEN: Gellar kept the world safe from vampires (long before Edward came on the scene) as the tough-as-nails Buffy Summers in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She went on to star in teen blockbusters like Cruel Intentions, I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream 2.

NOW: Gellar has settled down with husband (and fellow '90s heart-throb) Freddie Prinze, Jr. When she isn't taking care of her one-year-old daughter Charlotte Grace, she's gearing up to star in the upcoming TV show Ringer, and occasionally lends her voice to Robot Chicken, the stop-motion TV series of fellow Buffy co-star Seth Green.

Claire Danes
THEN: Between the defiant hair-dye jobs and oversized flannel shirts, Angela Chase in My So-Called Life embodied '90s teen angst. Danes won a Golden Globe and received an Emmy nomination for role, which earned her roles in William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet and Brokedown Palace.
NOW: In 2010, Danes played the title role in the HBO film Temple Grandin, picking up Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG awards for her portrayal of the charming, autistic scientist. She is currently filming As Cool As I Am, a coming-of-age story based on a Pete Fromm novel of the same title.

Katie Holmes
THEN: Joey Potter won us over with lopsided grins, her endless supply of spaghetti strap tops, and perfect twinset ensembles on Dawson's Creek. After the series ended, Holmes moved away from her good girl image with risque roles in Disturbing Behavior and Teaching Mrs. Tingle.
NOW: The glamorous wife of Tom Cruise and mother of Suri ditched her baby-doll good looks for a seriously sophisticated style. She recently played Jackie Kennedy in the TV mini-series The Kennedys, and runs the clothing line Holmes&Yang alongside stylist Jeanne Yang.

Michelle Williams
THEN: Like her co-star Katie Holmes, Michelle Williams took Hollywood by storm following her success as the edgy newcomer Jen Lindley on Dawson's Creek.
NOW: Williams is winning awards left and right! After her performance in Brokeback Mountain, she took away a Critic's Choice Award and earned Golden Globe, BAFTA and Academy Award nominations. Williams was also nominated for an Academy Award for her role in Blue Valentine. When she isn't cruising the streets of Brooklyn with her daughter Matilda Ledger, she's gracing the big screen with more standout roles. Melissa Joan Hart
THEN: Melissa was best known in the '90s as spunky (and stylish!) Clarissa Darling on Nickelodeon's Clarissa Explains it All, and the enchanting Sabrina Spellman from Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Hart also starred in the 1999 blockbuster Drive Me Crazy alongside a young Adrian Grenier of Entourage fame.
NOW: Hart tied the knot with musician Mark Wilkerson in 2003. While she may not wear Clarissa's signature duds or see much of Salem the talking cat these days, Hart still has an enviable wardrobe, and balances acting with raising her sons, Mason and Braydon.

Danielle Fishel
THEN: The bright-eyed Danielle Fishel was famous for playing Topanga Lawrence (later, Topanga Lawrence-Matthews), Cory Matthews' love interest on Boy Meets World. Topanga was initially a guest character on the show, but thanks to a catchy name and winning personality, the producers (and Cory!) liked her enough to make her a main character. "I met a woman who named her daughter Topanga," Fishel told People in 2006. "I had one of the most awesome character names in TV history."
NOW: Fishel was a former correspondent on The Tyra Banks Show, and hosted The Dish on Style Network. She provided us with her hilarious commentary on all things pop culture until the show's end in March of this year.

Tiffani Thiessen
THEN: America (and Zack Morris) fell in love with Kelly Kapowski, the popular girl with a heart of gold on Saved By The Bell. After wrapping up Saved By The Bell: The College Years in 1994, the actress did a complete 360, shedding her good girl image to play the callous Valerie Malone in Beverly Hills, 90210.

Tori Spelling
THEN: As the daughter of legendary television producer Aaron Spelling, actress Tori Spelling grew up in the spotlight. NOW: From primetime star to reality star! We have since become better acquainted with Tori, her husband Dean, and her two adorable children thanks to her reality shows on the Oxygen network.

Jessica Biel
THEN: We knew Jessica Biel as wholesome big sister Mary Camden in 7th Heaven. The actress left the show in 2003 to shed her image as a preacher's daughter by starring in Summer Catch and The Rules of Attraction.
NOW: Biel played Charissa Sosa in the summer 2010 blockbuster The A-Team. Today, she is a Revlon spokesperson and can be seen next in the upcoming film The Tall Man.
