French First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy gave birth to a daughter – her first child with French President Nicolas Sarkozy – on Wednesday in Paris, Le Figaro reports. Bruni-Sarkozy, 43, who confirmed her pregnancy in July, delivered around 8 p.m. at the Clinque de la Muette after arriving earlier in the day.

Grandpa has spilled the haricots – French for beans. Pal Sarkozy, the father of France's president Nicolas Sarkozy, has told the German newspaper Bild that his son and daughter-in-law, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, are expecting a baby. Rumors of a pregnancy have been circulating since late April, when the French press spotted the first lady doing some maternity shopping in Paris, although President Sarkozy's office has declined comment.
